Meet the teacher
My path
I attended Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto and, for approximately twenty years, I taught children and teens between the ages of six and eighteen years old.
I have also worked with adults in a senior university and, regardless of my students’ ages, I’ve always encouraged them to communicate in Englishin our classes. One of the major obstacles of English learners is feeling vulnerable in a second language.
I truly believe that evolution and improvement in every walk of life only happen when we challenge ourselves and we face our fears! First and foremost, we have to acknowledge we don’t know everything! That’s the very first step to move forward and go above and beyond! Humbling yourself before knowledge fosters your drive to learn and that infinite mindset will be key in learning English because language acquisition is a continuous task.
For the time being, I’m working with adults in order to encourage them to pause their frantic routines, so that they can actually learn to communicate in English in a natural way, with growing confidence and authenticity.
Over the years, my experience has taught me that if you want to improve your language performance, nothing better than practising over and over again with more or less proficiency. Every foreign speaker dreads the exposure of having to communicate in a second language! Thus, if that’s your case, let me tell you, you are not alone! That’s perfectly normal but, above all, believe me, it’s possible to overcome, with a method that is specially designed for you.
So, yes, I’m talking to you, the one who has made several attempts to learn English and ended up giving up! For you, the one who travels and always asks someone else to speak English on your behalf! And also for you, who were in complete agony in yesterday’s online meeting when you realised you had to open your mic to intervene in English…
